How many calories is really in that drink?

You never stop to think how many calories are in some of your fave drinks. Think twice before you sip!
How many calories is really in that drink?

Skinny decaf latte (295ml)

Energy: 90 cals (377kJ)
Walk it off in*: 26 minutes
Skimmed milk is a great source of protein and calcium. Removing the caffeine may reduce the feeling of anxiety and prevent irritation of the gut. Make sure the coffee is decaffeinated using a natural water filtration method without chemicals.
*Walking times based on a 60kg woman walking at a moderate rate of 5km/hour

Instant soup 250ml

Energy: 144 cals (602kJ)
Walk it off in: 40 minutes
While they’re low in calories and fat, we’re all savvy enough to know that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re good for us. Read the label and you’ll most likely find multiple kinds of salts, colours, sugar and MSG. There’s nothing good about these beverages.

Full-fat chai latte (295ml)

Energy: 275 cals (1151kJ)
Walk it off in: 1 hour 20 minutes
In theory this should be an excellent drink, but most cafes make chai lattewith a powder containing about four teaspoons of added sugar, instant tea and spices. With full-fat milk it’s also high in saturated fat.

Skinny hot chocolate (295ml)

Energy: 145 cals (607kJ)
Walk it off in: 43 minutes
Most cafes serve hot chocolate made from either a powder or chocolate syrup. Both contain around three teaspoons of added sugar per cup. Make it yourself at home with skim milk, cocoa or natural (raw) cacao and one teaspoon of sugar.

Miso (250ml)

Energy: 35 cals (146kJ)
Walk it off in: 10 minutes
Miso is made by fermenting soy beans with barley or brown rice and salt. The process produces natural bacteria, which aids digestion and strengthens the immune system. On its own miso is a good source of probiotics but very high in salt.
